Rooftop Oasis | Garden Inspiration

Happy 2017!  Hope you have a great beginning to the New Year thus far.

When to a rooftop garden at the top of the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum over the holiday.  It is a spot of tranquility in the middle of a big busy city.  Would like to design and build a rooftop garden someday.  Good inspiration.

Also, finally re-potted my sage plant I was trying to rescue.  I think it manage to heal itself and now just need more nutrients and time to grow.  And potted my new rosemary cutting as well.

Rosemary Plants Updates | Spray Painting Pots

It has been a while since I last updated on my rosemary plants.  2 of the cuttings suffered some setbacks, I'm not sure exactly what happened as their leaves kept turning yellow.  I heavily trimmed them back and now the new growth are healthy.

One of the cuttings are doing very well and I have already harvested a few times to make pasta sauce.  I really should not have done so as it needs to grow more robust.  Now I hope all 3 plants will grow big fast and branch out more.

For the re-potting I use normal garden soil.  I ran out of homemade coffee compost.  Will add that in a couple of weeks.  Do you propagate rosemary herbs?  Let me know how are they doing.

Potting Sage Cuttings

It has been a while since I last updated.  Had a meeting at the National Gallery in Singapore and took some time to look around the building.

Got home and it was finally time to pot my Sage cuttings.  I had waited quite a while for their roots to get more robust.  I believe the sage I bought are "forced-grown", they will take a while to grow.  Hopefully I will be able to use them in my cooking soon.

Growing Rosemary Plants | Adding Crushed Egg Shell

Just uploaded a video response for a few viewers on how I add crushed egg shells to my plants.  I have mentioned before that I do not add commercial fertilizers to my plants.  Instead I periodically add crushed egg shells, coffee grind, homemade compost ...etc....

Growing Rosemary from Cuttings | Potting - 60 Days - Updates

Day 60,  the cuttings have been rooting very well.  Potting them together since they are still very small.  I have the roots about 2 inches into the soil.

For Soil mix: I'm using normal garden soil, adding espresso grind and I also throw in so chopped cilantro stalks I have laying around.  The espresso grind has been used, it is much less acidic than when fresh.  Added it to all my plants every couples of weeks, seems to not have any issues.  Will add some crush egg shells to the rosemary in a couple of weeks.

I'm going to water them once every 2 days.  Hopefully they will prosper well.  Will update in next video.

Growing Rosemary from Cuttings | 50 Days - Updates

It has been day 50 and rosemary cuttings root system has grown more robust.  Some of the roots started "branching". The stems seemingly turning brown and a bit damp.  Not sure if that's the way should be.  Will have to pot them in the next days.

Overall, rosemary cuttings seem to progress well.  Will see how they do when potted into soil.

Growing Rosemary from Cuttings | 30 Days

Attempting rosemary propagation bought from supermarket.  Started with 3 stems of cuttings, removing most of the spiny leaves, left them in a glass on a sunny spot and changed water daily.

The first week, they were really "droopy" and I thought they were not going to make it.  Then they got better, and on day 16, one stem started rooting.  By day 18, all 3 stems were rooting.  Just letting the roots get stronger before potting them into soil.  Have not decided on the method to pot them yet.
